The lack of sweets on the Dukan Diet can be really tough. I know that I was really craving sweets by the second day of the diet, and had to find some Dukan-friendly sweet treats to keep me on track. Luckily there is a Dukan Diet jello allowance.
Dukan Diet Jello Allowance by Phase
Attack phase (first phase) – sugar free Jello is allowed in unlimited quantities.
Cruise phase (second phase) – sugar free Jello is allowed in unlimited quantities.
Consolidation phase (third phase) – sugar free Jello is allowed in unlimited quantities. Normal (full sugar) Jello is allowed in moderation during “celebration meals”.
Stabilization phase (fourth phase) – sugar free Jello and normal (full sugar) Jello are allowed without restriction. On pure protein days, only sugar free Jello is allowed without restriction.
Why is sugar-free jello allowed? Sugar-free Jello is made with aspartame, an artificial sweetener. Artificial sweeteners are allowed on all phases of the Dukan Diet as they are not digested like normal sugar. In fact, Dr. Dukan encourages the use of artificial sweeteners to allow for some guilt-free treats throughout the diet.
The granules from sugar free Jello packets can be used to create special treats. Try sprinkling a small amount in nonfat milk or nonfat yogurt to add some sweetness and fruit flavor. Remember that these granules are very concentrated and you will only need a sprinkle or so to add flavor.
Don’t be afraid of the Dukan Diet Jello allowance. When I first started the diet, I tried to stay away from even the nonfat Jello, as I thought it might hinder my progress. This is not the case; in fact, Dukan Diet jello can help you stay on track with the diet by providing a way to have sweets without falling off the wagon.
You should be able to find Jello at your local grocery store. If you can’t find Jello locally, Amazon has a great variety pack available for sale.
